WRC Spain: Hirvonen takes third place
(bke) Mikko Hirvonen came third in his Ford Focus in the world rally in the mountains behind Spain’s Costa Dorada. Fourth was François Duval – he joined the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team for the rallies in Spain and Corsica; team-mate Jari-Matti Latvala took 6th place. The winner was Sébastien Loeb, closely followed by Dani Sordo (both Citroen).
Staged in the Tarragona region south-west of Barcelona, the Rally of Spain is the fastest asphalt rally on the WRC calendar. “This was a good weekend for me and I am happy to be back in the Ford team,” said François Duval, who is regarded as an asphalt specialist. Mikko Hirvonen added: “Winning the drivers’ championship will now be very difficult, but it isn’t out of the question, so I will keep trying.“

The next rally is in Corsica on 10th to 12th October.
