World Rallye in Monte Carlo: Grönhom achieves place 3 at the beginning of the season
(bke) At the first race of the FIA World Rally Championship 2007 the drivers Marcus Grönholm and Mikko Hirvonen finished 3 and 5 with their Ford Focus RS. The winner was Sébastian Loeb (Citroen); he was followed by his team mate Dani Sordo
The first two manufacturer' standings were driven in the old rally style: in the dark. Marcus Grönholm had slight problems with his gear and his winter tires on Friday. "I didn't feel like being at the Rallye Monte Carlo; the weather was so strange", the Finn said. Because for the first time the WRC opening in the Ardèche and Vercors mountain region took place on dry asphalt passages and without any snow or ice. This might be different at the next race in Sweden from February 9 until 11.
