World Rally Mexico: Latvala and Hirvonen came in third and fourth
(bke) Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala came in third and fourth at the World Rally in Mexico despite of some small technical faults at their Ford Focus RS. Sébastian Loeb (Citroen) finished first followed by Chris Atkinson (Subaru).
The third race of the season took place on gravel ground in the mountains of Central Mexico in an altitude of up to 2,700 metres. The engines lose about 25% of their normal power in the thinner air while the rocky tracks proved a constant hazard for the unwary. "I achieved my goal of being on the podium", said the only 22-year-old Finn Jari-Matti Latvala after the race. He hopes that he can also get just as close to Sébastian Loeb in the future and gain scores for Ford.

The BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team is leading after 3 of 15 races in the drivers as well as in the manufacturers standing. The next rallye will take place from March 28 until 30 in Argentina.
