Marcus Grönholm has built on his success in Sardinia two weeks ago to win the Acropolis Rally. Driving his Ford Focus RS at the weekend, he showed that he was the man to beat on the gravel tracks around Athens.
Grönholm’s first place was also Ford’s 60th win overall in the WRC. Sébastien Loeb (Citroen) came second and Petter Solberg (Subaru) third. Team-mate Mikko Hirvonen finished fourth. After completing eight of the sixteen rallies, Marcus Grönholm leads the drivers’ championship by nine points over Sébastien Loeb.
The WRC summer break ends on 3rd August with the start of the rally in Finland on Marcus Grönholm’s home soil.
