Ford finished the Rally of Norway with a comfortable triple victory: Mikko Hirvonen took first place in his Ford Focus RS WRC 06 in the third round of this year’s world championship. His team-mate Marcus Grönholm came second and now has 24 points to put him top of the overall standings in front of Mikko Hirvonen and world champion Sébastien Loeb. “That was a dream of a rally for me. Everything went well, I didn’t make any mistakes and I won,” said Mikko Hirvonen, who led the rally from start to finish. Local favourite Henning Solberg, driving another Ford Focus RS WRC, came third. Ford is now leading the manufacturers’ standings.
Things did not go as planned for Citroën star Sébastien Loeb: The world champion twice crashed into a snow bank on the demanding course and lost more than seventeen minutes in the process.
