Ford driver Marcus Grönholm finished the Rally of Sweden with a lead of 53.8 seconds. The Finn won eleven of the twenty stages in the wintery forests around Karlstad. The key to Marcus Grönholm’s fifth win in Sweden was in the second stage when he chose to use tyres with shorter studs than those fitted by Sébastien Loeb, and was able to gain valuable seconds and build up a decisive lead over the Citroën star. Mikko Hirvonen came third ahead of Henning Solberg in another Ford Focus RS World Rally Car run by the Stobart team.
With up to 160 km/h the pilots drove through the swedish woods.
The choice of the correct spikes decided the rallye sweden.
